Dear Members:

During the past several months, ERAI Members have contacted us regarding U.S. Customs and Border Protection seizing shipments destined to the US from abroad. There is much confusion regarding the seizure process: why are shipments detained, what rights does the importer have, who makes the final determination on the authenticity of the parts?

Anne Maricich, Assistant Director of Trade, from CBP will answer these questions and provide an overview on the seizure process.

Please join ERAI, Snell & Wilmer and CBP on this hour-long discussion on June 3 at 2 pm Eastern. After registering, attendees can submit questions for the CPB representative and the legal team at Snell & Wilmer.

In a technology-driven global economy, regulations intended to limit the risk of counterfeits entering the U.S. supply chain have also created challenges for legal importers of electronics components. Join Snell & Wilmer and ERAI for a complimentary webinar to address issues relating to those challenges.

This web event is a unique opportunity to receive first-hand information and guidance from U.S. Customs and Border Protection and experienced legal professionals in the industry as they address common questions including:

  • What are U.S. Customs’ procedures for detaining and seizing suspected counterfeits? Are there specific triggers that flag shipments for seizure?
  • What steps does U.S. Customs take to authenticate or invalidate goods?
  • What are the legal responsibilities of the IP holder during the authentication process?
  • What are the importer’s rights during this authentication process? What communication or reporting is U.S. Customs required to provide the importer of record during the authentication process?

If there is a particular issue you would like the panel to address, you will be invited to submit a question after your RSVP is confirmed.

RSVP by May 30 to rsvp@swlaw.com or by calling 1.855.SWEvent (1.855.793.8368).

Webinar login instructions will be emailed to registered participants prior to the event.
